Partnership with the UN Capital Development Fund
The GM and UNCDF have entered into a co-financing partnership with the key objective of institutionalizing and strengthening a corporate results-based management (RBM) culture, practices and systems that support effective and efficient achievement of the two organizations’ respective results.
The partnership follows the policies initiated by multilateral banks, OECD DAC and UN agencies to put more emphasis on ‘Managing for Development Results’ as an overall strategy to enhance Millennium Development Goals achievements.
It also supports current efforts of UN agencies to harmonize and coordinate system-wide efforts and practices that aim to measure the effectiveness of operational activities by their impact on poverty eradication, economic growth and sustainable development.
Sharing capacities between UN agencies in this manner is a novel practice. It is hoped that RBM will strengthen corporate oversight and overall accountability to the organizations’ respective governing bodies and that performance-oriented reporting will enable external partners to make informed decisions regarding the GM and the added value of its work.
