Expected outcomes

Through this initiative, it is expected that:

a desertification profile highlighting the main critical factors contributing to desertification and poverty in the Sahel will be developed;
on the basis of the stocktaking exercise of the efforts being made to combat desertification in each country, the appoach of the initiative will be fine-tuned;
a macro-economic analysis of the impact of combating desertification on poverty reduction will be conducted and the financial cost of such investments, estimated; and
the main orientation axis for potential interventions will be presented to and endorsed by donors.
