Partnership Initiative on Sustainable Land Management in the Caribbean SIDS (PISLM)
Land degradation, sustainable land management (SLM) and drought-related issues cannot be addressed in isolation in the Caribbean SIDS, since land degradation and management, climate systems and biological diversity are all interlinked.
These are the areas addressed by the Rio Conventions - the UNCCD, the UNFCCC and CBD - and there is therefore sound logic in approaching SLM in the Caribbean SIDS, and by extension the implementation of the Rio Conventions, in a systematic and complementary manner.
There is growing recognition of the added value of this holistic approach.
