ICTSD - The International Centre for Trade and Sustainable Development

As part of its Market Access & Trade Programme (MAT), the GM is working closely with ICTSD to:

  • clearly identify the linkages between the UNCCD and trade; and
  • develop a conceptual framework tfor linking trade, sustainable land management and livelihoods, in degraded areas.

ICTSD is internationally-recognized for its expertise in promoting dialogue on trade and sustainable development.  It has developed extended outreach to a broad range of actors in the trade, environment and development communities.

ICTSD will play a key role in supporting the GM in engaging key stakeholders in the development of the MAT Programme and building new partnerships for its implementation.

The GM and ICTSD are currently organizing a workshop on “Promoting SLM through Trade” and are building a set of tools to facilitate knowledge and information management on issues related to trade and sustainable use and management of land and natural resources.
