Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic
The 16th Meeting of the Forum of Ministers of the Environment of Latin America and the Caribbean, is being organized by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, next week.
Emerging issues on the international environment agenda relating to the implementation of the Latin American and Caribbean Initiative for Sustainable Development (ILAC) will be discussed and the regional implications of future international environmental negotiations on climate change and biological diversity, assessed.
Mr Alejandro Kilpatrick, Programme Coordinator for Latin America and the Caribbean, who will be representing the GM on this occasion, believes the forum is an excellent platform for promoting UNCCD issues within the priority areas of the Regional Action Plan (RAP) and interacting with government officials on opportunities for mainstreaming and financing sustainable land management.
