African Development Bank
The Central Africa Forests Commission
The African Development Bank Group, committed to supporting the Central African Forest Commission (COMIFAC) with the implementation of its Convergence Plan, is hosting an international conference on Financing Mechanisms for the Sustainable Management of the Congo Basin Forest Ecosystems on 21 & 22 February, in Tunis.

The Global Mechanism is participating in the conference as a member of the Congo Basin Forest Partnership (CBFP), having supported the implementation of the UNCCD Sub Regional Action Plan (SRAP) for Central Africa.

The conference aims to define a strategy for obtaining sustainable financing for the management of forest ecosystems in the Congo Basin and to strengthen governance and partnerships between the various stakeholders.

Besides participating in the conference, the GM aims to provide an overview of the GM’s mandate, raise awareness about sustainable land management-related issues, including SRAP implementation and partnership building in Central Africa, to discuss the types of support the GM is able to give Central African countries and identify options for future collaboration.
