Compensation for Ecosystems Services Synergies Workshop
26 February, 2007 - 28 February, 2007
Quito, Ecuador
This workshop launches the joint efforts of the GM and its partner, Conservation International, to identify Compensation for Ecosystems Services (CES) mechanisms and explore how such mechanisms may be developed and utilized as innovative financing tools for UNCCD implementation in the Andean Region.
The workshop promotes synergies between biodiversity conservation and Sustainable Land Management (SLM) in the context of supporting rural livelihoods and offers technical inputs and practical suggestions for creating and strengthening financing mechanisms for SLM and UNCCD implementation.
Co-financed by the GM, Conservation International and the German technical cooperation agency – GTZ, the workshop brings together a broad range of environmental services stakeholders, to dialogue and seek strategic partnerships with key players from the multilateral environmental conventions on desertification, biodiversity and climate change.
