30 October, 2007 - 31 October, 2007
Bishkek, Kyrgyz Republic
The Global Mechanism will contribute to the first Steering Committee of the Central Asian Initiative for Land Management (CACILM) on 30 and 31 October 2007 in Bishkek, Kyrgyz Republic, by articulating the resource mobilization strategy for phases 2 and 3 of CACILM.
CACILM aims to implement a more comprehensive, integrated approach to sustainable land management (SLM) that will produce benefits at the local, national, and global levels.
The Steering Committee meeting has been called to assess the status of CACILM and to take stock of the implementation of 10 projects under the first phase that amount to USD 155 million in total.
On the margins of the Steering Committee meeting, the GM is convening a meeting of the members of the Strategic Partnership Agreement for UNCCD Implementation in Central Asian Countries (SPA) - a multi-donor consortium designed to enhance collaboration between the Central Asian Countries and their external partners.
This meeting will discuss the operationalization of a climate change resource mobilization strategy in the context of the SPA and CACILM, and the various partners’ potential roles in the implementation of this strategy.
